Samantha February Faehrmann

Rest Butter.

Soak Gravy.

Pursue Aldente.

Repeat.

. . . Or the longer version. . .

Beginning as an industrious thinker and maker - in remote central Queensland on Gayiri Land - my creativity and values developed through experimentation in mediums, material and scale.

Ever questioning - the intangible, visceral, spatial layers and connections - that compose our individual and collective phenomenological states, across species and time.

I hold a Masters of Architecture from the University of South Australia, where I worked with the 'Design Construct Program’ (DCP) for over 12 years. My

portfolio expanded to include contemporary art in pursuit of material language and experimentation in 2016.

I launched ‘Butter and Gravy Studio’ in 2016 including the development of functional series of ‘I AM SAM’ ceramics. I extended to a brick and mortar studio on Kaurna Land in 2019, a short walk west from Iparrityi (Whitmore) Square and recently moved to Strathalbyn on Peramangk and Ngarrindjeri Lands.

You can find my work at some of Adelaide’s best cafes

and restaurants including - Etica, Peter Rabbit, Bloom, Allegra Dining Room, and Lockwood General. My commissions include works for the tables of David Roche Foundation + cooking legend - Martha Stewart; both wild adventures, made possible through the generous support of the dearly loved and missed friend, Martyn Cook.
